Living “up in the hills” certainly has its perks, and one major selling point in the area is the unbelievable views of the LA Basin that the homes often have.
Example #1 above: 1401 Queens Way, located at the end of a cul-de-sac just above the Sunset Strip in the center of all the action. This 4 bed, 5 bath modern masterpiece was recently completed by LA-based firm Bowery Design and features soaring ceilings, Infinity edge pool, fireplace/firepit and high-end organic warm finishes including reclaimed barn wood, Jerusalem stone and wide-plank oak floors.
Besides the impeccable design, one of the cool things about this house is that it is only a few minutes from The Strip, but still has insane panoramic views of, well, pretty much everything in LA. Typically the views get better and better as you drive farther up the hillside, which is exactly the downside. You have to drive FARTHER and FARTHER, burning up more fuel on the way up (At over $4/gallon, even the wealthy get annoyed) and grinding more brake pad on the way down. So, to find a home this sweet with these views that is only a hop, skip and a jump up from the strip is a great find.
The downside to the upside? You might hear a little street noise coming from the action of Sunset Blvd. The upside to the downside of the upside? This bad boy has the most solid, high-quality (and most expensive) windows and doors available for modern design homes: Fleetwood. So, when the doors are sealed any street noise should be minimal. Now, we all know that the weather is ridiculously nice here 95% of the time and therefore indoor/outdoor living is a popular choice among many. Another advantage of Fleetwood is the pocket door options they have, and this house is full of them, combining the master bedroom/upper viewing deck and living room/pool area into flowing spaces of living and entertainment.
The house IS available and was recently reduced a half a million bucks to $6,495,000.
